A Light Born From
Compassion
What began as a conversation between two students in Milan has grown into a movement dedicated to breaking the silence around menstrual health and ensuring dignity for every woman.
Our Story
From a conversation to a cause
Her Light was founded by Bianca Smith Petersen and Nay Mohamad, two international students in Milan who recognized that period poverty and in-education wasn't just a distant problem. It was happening in their own city, affecting women in shelters, schools, and communities across Italy.
Driven by the belief that menstrual health is a fundamental right, they created Her Light to bridge the gap between awareness and action. What started with organizing bake sales and collecting donations quickly evolved into a comprehensive initiative addressing education, advocacy, and community support.
Today, Her Light works with women's shelters throughout Milan, providing menstrual products and educational resources while simultaneously building an international platform for menstrual health awareness.
